By Alan Silver,Part-time CFO,

Consultants usually have a high degree of expertise in their consulting fields, but may have many questions about some financial aspects of their businesses.  Should you be categorized as a 1099-worker or a part-time employee ?  Should you care ?  Should you incorporate ?  Should you sign a contract with clients ?  Are you aware of a range of tax benefits for consultants ?  These subjects will all be addressed on 3/22.  Please bring your questions.

Alan Silver has worked as the part-time CFO for over 50 technology start-ups over the last 16+ years.  At he was the part-time CFO for well over two years, from when the company had fewer than 10 employees until 5 months before the company went public.  He has an MSM degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management, has been the Treasurer of the Boston (IEEE) Entrepreneurs’ Network for roughly 15 years, and has been an occasional panelist at MIT Enterprise Forum Start-up Clinics.  The MIT Enterprise Forum featured Silver and his Part-time CFO business in the Member Profile/Entrepreneur To Watch section of the October 2007 issue of its FORUM REPORTER.

The meeting is open to the public.  No charge for Consultants Network members.  There is a $5 entrance fee for non-members.
