Protecting Your IP in a Client-Centered Scenario
by Audrey Roth, Principal, Convergent GC
Consultants have limited rights in legally protecting the IP they have developed for clients. We will focus on some of the issues the consultant faces:
- Differentiating among the IP you have developed for clients, your proprietary IP, and the IP the client owns and is paying to own.
- Particular requirements of start-ups
- Protecting the IP you have developed for clients by releasing
- rights only upon payments
- How to protect your underlying proprietary IP
- Protection via provisional patents
- Protection via patents
